I know I’m biased as I was born and raised in Houston, but I think everyone could be sweet on Houston if they just spent some time getting to know the people, the culture, and the eats. The dessert scene in Houston is quite instagramable. Here’s a list of some of my favorites! I hope this list activates your sweet tooth!
1. Petite Sweets
2700 W Alabama St, Houston, TX 77098
This darling and petite dessert shop has everything to satisfy your sweet tooth and your instagram feed. From ice cream, macarons, cupcakes, cheesecakes, cakes, cake balls, to cookies. The white brick wall is très chic on instagram too. I recommend the cereal milk ice cream! Their unicorn hot chocolate is on my bucket list still!
2. Lee’s Fried Chicken & Donuts
601 Heights Blvd, Houston, TX 77007
Can’t decide between savory or sweet? Lee’s Fried Chicken & Donuts is the perfect spot. My high school friend and decorated pastry chef in Houston, Alyssa Dole just signed on to be Lee’s Fried Chicken & Donuts pastry chef and she’s already blowing minds. Like a sour watermelon donut?! I also loved the glitter donut. (One of my favorite colors is sparkle.)
3. 85°C Bakery Cafe
9750 Bellaire Blvd Ste 168, Houston, TX 77036
Famed 85°C Bakery Cafe recently opened their 1000th location in Houston and made a lot of people very happy. I took my parents opening week and they were like children in a candy store. Please get the cheese breads and the egg tarts. You’ll thank me later. Pictured is the delectable mango panna cotta.

Speaking of mangoes, I’m not a big fan of fruit tarts and admittedly ordered the mango fruit tart at Tout Suite for my instagram, but ended up loving it. I would order it again and again. Tout Suite is a long time favorite dessert and coffee shop of mine. Their space is gorgeous and airy and I’ve yet to eat a dessert there that I didn’t like. You can find macarons, tarts, gorgeous crepe cakes. There’s also delicious savory menu items!
5. Honey Art Cafe
3516 S Shepherd Dr, Houston, TX 77098
Another beautiful space in Houston is Honey Art Cafe. Their art murals are amazing. I’m very particular about the aesthetics on my instagram, which means I try to avoid taking photos at night and under yellow light. But the owner of Honey Art Cafe specifically chose white light, a deliberate choice made by her artist self. I was there for the first time on a dark rainy day and still managed to grab some well lit photos! You can see more of the beautiful space on my dedicated post about it.
Also Honey Art Cafe will forever be the place I first had the bubble waffle cone.
6. Kamalan Bakery
9889 Bellaire Blvd, Houston, TX 77036
Kamalan Bakery is the only Houston bakery I know of that has taiyaki! Taiyaki is a Japanese treat that is a cake like cone shaped like a fish. Kamalan Bakery fills it up with green tea ice cream and custard. And red bean paste if you’re into that. I know I am. They have a 12 dollar minimum for credit card, a great excuse to stock up on their bakery goods.
7. Flo Paris Bakery Cafe
5757 Westheimer Rd #105, Houston, TX 77057
I was seeking a dessert food truck for my instagram and to my dismay, my original destination was closed. As I roamed with my friends, now aimless, we found ourselves at Flo Paris Bakery and were charmed by their desserts and interior design. Pictured is the cream puff!
So that concludes my list of Houston’s instagramable desserts. Do comment and tell me about some of yours! What did I leave off?
