Best Thai Restaurants in the Triangle - cover photo

Sawadee ka, foodies! Today I’m excited to take you on a journey through the Triangle of North Carolina to explore some of the best Thai restaurants in the area. Here’s my list of Best Thai Restaurants in the Triangle. As always, I’ll update this article as I eat around the Triangle.

Thai Station

First on our list is Thai Station in Carrboro. Located in a repurposed old train station, Thai Station is our most frequented restaurant. We either come here or get takeout about 3 times a month. The atmosphere is casual and unique (I mean you can literally sit inside a train car) and they also have outdoor seating available. We loved it so much that we had our wedding rehearsal dinner here. Save room for their deserts! They have Thai donuts and possibly the best coconut cake I’ve ever had.

Cham Thai

Across the street from Thai Station is Cham Thai! They’ve been under new owners and management since mid 2023. Can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu. So far, I’ve enjoyed their crab fried rice, Tom Yum noodle soup, and Volcano Rock Shrimp (featured in this video.)

Yin Dee

First of a few strip mall gems in this article. This popular Morrisville, North Carolina spot has a loyal following. We loved the Lao sausage and the drunken noodles here! I would skip out on their crispy tofu though. Please be careful with their Thai spice rating here! Whew, that 4/5 made me sweat!

Mayra Cafe

Newly opened in Apex is Mayra Cafe and I love how wide their wide noodles are! So much in fact that I went twice in one month, which is hard for me to do since I live in Carrboro. I’ve only had their Pad Thai and drunken Noodles but can’t wait to go back. I didn’t think it was very spicy though, so if you like Thai heat like I do, you may need to ask for extra chili sauce. They also boast they have house-made croissants!

Baan Thai

Also in Apex, is Baan Thai . This unassuming strip mall gem is tiny but their menu is stacked! I rarely order fried rice but I still dream about their beef fried rice often. You can see the Reel I made about them here.

Last but not least, we have the Drunken Food Truck. They bop around the Triangle and their menu changes routinely, but the quality remains consistent. I’ve loved their Drunken Noodles and Khao Soi. Protip: You can buy jars of their spicy chili oil for yourself and gift them to your spice-loving friends!
