I know I’m biased as I was born and raised in Houston, but I think everyone could be sweet on Houston if they just spent some time getting to know the people, the culture, and the eats. The dessert scene in Houston is quite instagrammable. Here’s a list of some of my favorites! I hope this list activates your sweet tooth!
Flower and Cream with their Instagrammable Cones
This new ice cream shop is not only Instagrammable with their balloon wall installation but also they have the biggest selection of flavored cones I’ve seen. From Matcha and Strawberry cones (pictured) to Lavender and Blue Corn. Their ice cream flavors are so good too. I’m partial to their Honey Rose flavor!

Hold Bae in the Palm of Your Hand
And while we’re still talking beautiful ice cream cones, check out Bae in Chinatown. Bae has colorful and soft-serve ice cream with a battery of sugary toppings to choose from, from sprinkles, mochi, Pocky sticks, to panda crackers!

Egghaus Gourmet with their Instagrammable Croissants
Egghaus Gourmet makes the most beautiful croissants and lattes! Sometimes they paint their croissants with gold and they often have special features for a limited time, like a crawfish croissant or a collaboration with Killeen’s barbecue.

Blkdog Coffee and Beignets Are a Matcha Made in Heaven
I love working from this coffee shop in Chinatown. They have pretty matcha beignets and matcha lattes. They also have chicken karaage if you’re wanting something savory to balance your sweet tooth!

Matcha Cafe Maiko is Literally Gold
That’s 24k gold leaf on the matcha soft serve from Matcha Cafe Maiko. This global chain specializes in matcha drinks and treats. I love how strong the matcha flavor is in their matcha soft serve. For people who have asked, the gold dissolves instantly and is mostly just a gimmick for Instagram. (Which obviously, I’m not above!)

SMOOSH Cookies with Instagrammable Icecream Sandwiches
SMOOSH Cookies are known for their ice cream sandwiches! They have cookies and donuts to make your ice cream sandwiches. I, of course, went for donuts when I ordered my ube ice cream sandwich.

Snowy Village with Instagrammable Bingsu
You’re going want to share even the regular size bingsu at Snowy Village in Houston’s Chinatown. Their mango bingsu is a great go-to order. I went for strawberry and mango but wish I went full-on mango. It’s gorgeous but also tastes even better than it looks. The ice was very finely shaved and instantly melts in your mouth. They also had fruits at the bottom so you’re not just eating ice as you start to make a dent.

Twisted Love with Instagrammable Soft Serve
Also in Houston’s Chinatown is this soft-serve dessert spot, Twisted Love. Twisted Love has intricate cone toppings! In the summer months, they’ve been offering soft-serve in refreshing fruit, like watermelon slices or hollowed-out pineapple!

Cloud 10 Creamery with the prettiest banana splits!
When’s the last time you had a banana split? Well, Cloud 10 Creamery is your spot! They also have a very instagrammable neon sign to style your photos! Pictured: Caramelized banana, hot fudge milk chocolate, candied pecans, nutella powder, and brown sugar crumble. We ordered it with chocolate, nutella, and Vietnamese coffee ice cream.

Famed 85°C Bakery Cafe recently opened their 1000th location in Houston and made a lot of people very happy. I took my parents opening week and they were like children in a candy store. Please get the cheese bread and the egg tarts. You’ll thank me later. Pictured is the delectable mango panna cotta.

Tout Suite with their wide array of Instagrammable treats

Speaking of mangoes, I’m not a big fan of fruit tarts and admittedly ordered the mango fruit tart at Tout Suite for my Instagram, but ended up loving it. I would order it again and again. Tout Suite is a long-time favorite dessert and coffee shop of mine. Their space is gorgeous and airy and I’ve yet to eat a dessert there that I didn’t like. You can find macarons, tarts, gorgeous crepe cakes. There’s also delicious savory menu items!

Honey Art Cafe with their Instagrammable Bubble Waffle
Another beautiful space in Houston is Honey Art Cafe. Their art murals are amazing. I’m very particular about the aesthetics of my Instagram, which means I try to avoid taking photos at night and under yellow light. But the owner of Honey Art Cafe specifically chose white light, a deliberate choice made by her artist self. I was there for the first time on a dark rainy day and still managed to grab some well-lit photos! You can see more of the beautiful space on my dedicated post about it.
Also, Honey Art Cafe will forever be the place I first had the bubble waffle cone.

Amorino has Instagrammable Gelato Roses
Will you accept this gelato rose from Amorino? I have and will again! You can pick your flavors and these gelato slingers will give you the prettiest, delicious rose, topped with a macaron.

Kamalan Bakery
Kamalan Bakery is the only Houston bakery I know of that has taiyaki! Taiyaki is a Japanese treat that is a cake-like cone shaped like a fish. Kamalan Bakery fills it up with green tea ice cream and custard. And red bean paste if you’re into that. I know I am. They have a 12 dollar minimum for credit card, a great excuse to stock up on their bakery goods.
