This Houston pub serving up English and Indian fusion cuisine has been on my Houston radar ever since I caught sight of it on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. (Quite a while ago since I haven’t had cable in over a year!) My Houston “to eat” list is impossibly long but last weekend, Thomas brought Red Lion back into focus, reminding me that I’ve been meaning to go. We recruited one other person and had a three person lunch date, family styling three entrees.

Chicken Tikka Masala, $18

My favorite of the three. I love carbs and this Tikka Masala served over rice and sides of naan really warmed my belly. Really creamy and rich flavoring.

Fish & Chips, $16
The breading of on the fish was especially buttery. Making lip-licking delightful. The fish flaky and moist.

Tandoori Chicken Quesadillas, $10

These Tandoori Chicken Quesadillas, a fun fusion of Indian and Mexican cuisine, were absolutely enjoyable. The ceremony of spooning a delicate serving of cucumber yogurt sauce and pickled vegetables on top of each quesadilla slice not only creates a winning combination of textures and flavors, but also builds up the right amount of anticipation.

Happily tucking in with my new friend and eating buddy. Couldn”t talk. Too busy eating.
