Last night, Alan and I celebrated our four year anniversary by taking advantage of the warmer weather and finally checking out Contigo. I have been stalking this establishment through other bloggers and Twitter for quite some time now. I walked away feeling really content and relaxed. It could have been the alcohol, but really I think it’s the ambiance, weather, and scrumptious eats. See the first photo? Note the table of colorful blankets in case the weather gets chilly after sundown. Contigo, you charmer, you!

Moscow Mule, $6 during happy hour, $7 otherwise

My first experience of a Moscow Mule (vodka, ginger beer, lime) was outstanding. My tolerance for alcohol is really low and I usually drink about 1/10 of my drink and pass it on to my eating buddies. This is light for the wuss in me and has a spicy kick because of the ginger beer. It taste like a soda and I managed to gulp down half of it!

White Bean Dip, $6 during happy hour

We caught the tail end of happy hour so we sampled their happy hour eats. We got the white bean dip. Hearty with silky duck fat swirled in.

Pigs in a Blanket, $5

Pigs in a Blanket were served with dijon mustard. Made in-house from local pigs and fresh dough! I was the sweetest girlfriend and let Alan have the last one.

Ox Tongue Slider, $2 happy hour, $3 otherwise

This was my favorite. The ox tongue was fatty and succulent and perfectly paired with arugula, dijon mustard, and a pickled slice of green tomato. We enjoyed it so much we each ordered one more.

Rabbit and Dumplings, $15

Perfect timing! It came out piping hot while the temperature drops slightly with the sun setting. Tender rabbit and sage dumplings. The vegetables were cooked just right, soft without being mushy. I always get a kick out of eating rabbit and carrots. Eating the meat with its diet. Am I the only one amused by this?

Strawberry Shortcake, $8

Perfect ending to our meal. Strawberry Shortcake with whipped cream and drizzled balsamic vinaigrette. The cake was moist and there was no skimping on the strawberries (which made it easier for us to romantically share our dessert instead of having a sword fight with our spoons). Thanks, Contigo!

Bonus: Not only is Contigo super dog-friendly, but it is also located across the street from a pretty park. We can’t wait to take our pup and walk him at the park before tucking in at Contigo next time.
