Ruckus Pizza Proves the Skeptic in Me Wrong

Ruckus Pizza Serves Both Pizza and Sushi

Ruckus Pizza serves both pizza and sushi?

When I heard that Ruckus Pizza not only serves pizza but also sushi, I couldn’t help but be skeptical. How can a pizza restaurant also successfully have sushi on the menu? What kind of place is Ruckus Pizza?! So though I was doubtful, my curiosity motivated me to accept an invite to see what all the Ruckus is about.

When I visited the Arboretum location in Cary, North Carolina for lunch over the weekend, I learned that during weekends, sushi is only served for dinner. However, they do have available their sashimi chopped salad which served as my sushi consolation. And because they are a pizza restaurant, I ordered a pizza. Finally, the homesick Texan in me had to order brisket tacos. Texans are obsessed with brisket and tacos.

Ruckus Pizza served me pizza, tacos, and sashimi in one meal.

Ruckus Pizza, Sushi and Pizza

Sam I Am Pizza; arugula and prosciutto,
caramelized onion, mozzarella, and balsamic reduction; 12.99 to 29.99 for
10 in. to 24 in.

If there’s a prosciutto arugula pizza on the menu, it’s usually the pizza I order. The Sam I Am Pizza at Ruckus is the resident arugula and prosciutto za. The honey drizzle option was a pleasant and sweet surprise. The crust was perfectly cooked and I liked the sweetness of the honey balancing with the more savory ingredients. I would totally order this pizza again!

Brisket Tacos; house blue cheese slaw, feta,
smoked brisket, pickled red onions, cilantro
and Ruckus guacamole, with freshly
cooked blue and yellow tortilla chips; $10.49

The brisket in the brisket taco was very tender and saucy. I can see most people being pleased with them, but holy guacamole! That guacamole with those freshly fried chips! I could eat a whole bucket of their guacamole with their house-fried chips!

Sashimi Chopped Salad; sashimi tuna, sliced avocado,
black sesame seeds, cucumber, wonton strips,
and wasabi yuzu vinaigrette over mixed greens; $13.99

I loved this sashimi chopped salad and plan to order it again next time I am at Ruckus Pizza! The tuna was very fresh and that dressing for the salad had such a tangy and satisfying flavor. I am not one to polish off salads nor am I someone who generally recommends them, but this one made me quite happy. I learned from the attentive server that this is one of their most popular dishes.

Conclusion: Ruckus Pizza is a gourmet master juggler.

So though I wasn’t sure a restaurant could juggle such a wide menu and do it well, it seems as Ruckus does just that. They have a sports bar casual vibe to the restaurant, and the dishes are well executed and affordably priced. I forgot to mention they also have a great selection of beers and cocktails. I found a delicious mango and strawberry sour beer there! It’s a great place to meet a bunch of friends and not worry about finding a restaurant that would cater to everyone’s tastes. Seriously, if tacos, pizza, or sushi don’t do it for you, there are also pasta dishes and sandwiches to try!
