Cloche Coffee Boosts Durham Community with Good Energy

I was tired of feeling helpless as I watch so many small businesses flounder during the COVID-19 pandemic. With my own income affected by COVID-19, I didn’t have the financial bandwidth to patronize my favorite restaurants and shops to the level that I wanted. Inspired by so many do-gooders doing what they can, I decided I could give back by donating my time and skills as a photographer and blogger. I posted to Instagram last week announcing that I’m giving away photoshoots to small businesses in need. Cloche Coffee in Durham reached out and stated they didn’t want to take away from another small business and graciously offered to pay. So touched by their offer, I told them to pay what they can afford if they’d like. It didn’t surprise me to learn that one of Cloche Coffee’s mission is to offer Good Energy to the Durham community.

Like many restaurants and food-centric businesses around the country, Cloche Coffee had to pivot their business practices to stay open during the Covid-19 pandemic. They now have reduced hours (7am to 4pm), have curbside pickup, and takeout coffee only. You can still go inside to place your orders. For curbside pickup, call them at (919)748-3333.

Cloche Coffee opened back in August 2019 and in less than a year’s time, they have endeared themselves to the Triangle community. Locals continue to grab their coffee-to-go on their social-distancing walks. As I maintained my social distance while photographing the shop’s charming details, it warmed my heart to overhear customers leaving generous tips to help buoy their local coffee shop.

And that kind of community care transforms into a positive cycle with businesses like Cloche Coffee. They are gifting jugs of cold brew coffee to healthcare workers. You can help them fund this initiative by shopping on their website.

One day soon, I hope we can safely convene inside our favorite spaces. Until that day comes, don’t forget to support your favorite businesses. There are real humans behind your favorite local cups of coffee, products, and services. We’re all in this together! Support local however way you can!
