I’ve heard very good things about Rice Bowl Cafe for quite some time now but it always seems to slip from my memory when I go out for Chinese food. Luckily, I was grabbing a bowl of pho at Pho Dan (next door to Rice Bowl Cafe) with Michelle, a trusted foodie friend, who reminded me that I still need to check out the gem next door. Jennifer, an out of town friend who loves Asian food was to visit just a couple of days later so I jumped on the opportunity to take her here for lunch.

We wanted a light lunch as she was going to Fogo de Chao for dinner. How funny our portions were still massive. We split the beef noodle soup and the salt and pepper squid and didn’t finish either!

Beef Noodle Soup, $7

The beef was so tender! The broth was comforting and slightly sweet; noodles were handmade. I asked for some chili oil and that really completed the circle for me.

Salt and Pepper Squid, $9.95

This was so delectable! The salt and pepper batter was flavorful and the onion crisps accented well. If you are not a fan of squid, they have salt and pepper fish too. I already know this will be a regular order of mine!

After writing this, I remember that I failed to try their the green onion pie, another recommendation from Michelle. Good thing I already planned on coming back here.
